Regiment: 1st U.S. Volunteers Sharpshooters Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Moretown Vermont Sept. 6th 1863 My Dear Gardner. I have not known what to do with myself all this long day and am glad it is nearly gone. how I wish I know where you was to night and what doing I would not care if I could step in and see you a few moments if not longer. perhaps you would not like to see your little wife a bit, but I guess I know better. We I came over here yesterday and it is lucky that we did for it rained like [ ? ] to-day I hope it will stop before long for it sounds dull and lonesome. I have got me a comb just exactly like yours. I saw it in Porthfield yesterday and thought I would have it. Freeman comences his hop picking to morrow but I thought I could not stay. I cannot feel easy long enough in one place to have it amount to any-thing. I think I shall go out to Grad Fathers this week or next but can tell better when I know. Aurora and Alonzo Brigham are going to pick hops. I went up to the Post Office the day after you went away. got the rest of those pictures and saw Don there he had just received a letter from Marie and she said rem- ember her to Gardner and Mary and tell Mary to come down to Concord this fall. I received a letter from Mother last night will send it to you in this. I think it must be all a mistake about Father being sick for my letter from him was written Aug 17th and I dont think Edwins could been of later date. Sept 7th We have got our washing all done and I am going to Middlesex to night so I guess I had better finish my letter. I hope I shall get one from you to night. Mother says give her love to you she says she hopes you are well and found Osman well. Amanda sends her love and says tell Gardner she is over here making the folks stand sound. I believe her boys name is Byron. Don’t forget to tell me how that sore throat is I think it has been sore long enough it would not keep you here and I think it had better get well now. Please accept this with much love and a mouthfull of kisses from Your ever faithfull and loving wife. G.B.C. M.J.C.
