My Mary.
My Dear Darling Wife.
If is not
of “one year ago to night” but of
one short month ago to night that
I am thinking That night the
last I passed with her I love
better than life follows me in
memory always as I lay my head
on my soldiers pillow.

piness of these five weeks we were

account of the abuse he received
from Baker. he was glad to get
back. I hear nothing from
Grand Rapids since that letter of
Mothers. I thought Louise might
at least acknowledge the receipt
of that Photograph, but likely
she is busy.
