Mr Van- Winkle is going to St. Louis this week to attend a missionary meeting. I have tried some to find a smaller house but I guess it is impossible for every house and shanty in the City seems to be full. I feel a great deal better than I did a week and two weeks ago. I did not know then but I was realy going to be sick. I wish you cold be here then I guess I should feel well. Evening. That letter did not come this noon so I will have to wait until to-morrow night. I guess I will get one then. I cannot hear from you to often. O my Darling how I wish I could see you to night that you could hold me in your loving arms. how happy I would be. I hope we will always love each other as we do now. and I know we will. we must. We have glorrious news to day. we hear that “Jeff Davis” with all his Cabinets are captured I hope it is true, but I thought he never would be taken alive. I supposed he would kill himself first.                                 May 15th Four weeks to-morrow you have been gone and it seems more like four monthes and it will be one year next thursday since you came home. I did not keep you long did I. It seems as though I did not have you any time atall.
