My Own Loved Husband
Darling Gardie,
I will write
a little to Clark this morning
to how you got out of the army before
how happy I was, I thought I could
have you always, that you never would
be obliged to leave me again, but we
never can tell what is coming can
we? and I must make the best of it.
perhaps it is all for the best. but it does
seem hard dont it? Artie looks for
Albert every day now, but she says she
does not want him to come out of the
army. that she cannot bear to have him
put on citizens clothes as long as he can
hold as good a position as he has got now.
I think it is strange that she can
talk so I do not believe she loves him as
I love you, or she could not all she thinks
of is position, she says she would not even care
to be with him. I know it always makes
me feel as
proud as any one to have
you
recieve promotions. for I know you earn
it. but it is not like the happiness of
living with you, and being where I can
have you to love me all the time.
In yours of the 7
th you speak of the Cols.
wanting you to accept a Captaincy and
say you wish you knew what I thought
but if I had been where you could ask
me. I should not have known what
to say. you know so much better
than I do what would be the best
place for you that I should want
you to do just as you thought best.
I forgot to tell you that I bought a
picture of “Mrs. Tora Thumb,” and her child
a few days ago it is real pretty and is
quite an addition to my album.
I bought another load of chips of
that man yesterday, I should think we
ought to have nearly enough to last all
summer now or would have if summer was
not so long in coming. it is so cold we have to
keep a fire nearly all the time yet, I am afraid
there will not be much
[ ? ]this year every
thing seems to be so backward.
I hope I shall get another letter from you
tonight. now
dont disappoint me. I do so
love to read your letters I could not hear
to often. if I cannot have you they are
the next best thing, I suppose they will
keep the 1
st A.C. in the service longer than
any other part of the armys will they not
do you think you will stay in or near
Washington until your year is up, or cannot
you tell any thing about it.
Write often and always love
Your Wify
Love & Kisses,
They have got the street cars to running,
Dont you wish you could see my
new hat.
