Yours of Mar. 11th I have
just received. I thank you for that letter
with all the strength of a strong heart. I believe
it has renewed or increased my love for you.
I know not how it could have been increased
for I loved you well and truly this many a

me new heart. We will ‘Hope’ the future as
it must bless some of the errant ones. Will select
you as one of those blest. Well knowing if you
are happy there is another who will not be for
from it. You wish for my presence
how you would be so happy. I know you
would. But it would be but for a moment.
Soon would come again the dread parting. Was

for the anticipation of the brightly families future
would life be looked upon as aught but a
mere existence. to be born sadly to the end.

My commission has not come yet but
I have assumed my new position. Capt.

I have not much to write this eve. I feel
better in mind than when I wrote last. I
really think some evil genius possessed
me. Give my kind regards to all friends
