Kisses
Grand Rapids
July 11th 1865
My Dear Darling Husband
Yours
of the 7
th I received to night. I did
not look for it to night and you
cannot tell how glad I was to get
it. I send you lots of kisses for it
you darling boy.
Cinda is here she has been all this
week, this afternoon a young lady
by the name of Joslyn came to see
her, and urged me very hard to
come and see her with Cinda, but
I hardly think I dare to, they are
such wealthy people. she is an
unmarried lady, and live with
her sister and her husband. his
name is Morris. they are from Mrs Kegean
and are strangers in the place, but have.
bought the “Gilbert place” and live
there.
You ask my opinion about our wanting
many things in Grand Rapids.
I do not know as my opinion is
worth much, but I do not think it
would be best to buy much furniture until
we until we know where we are going to
want it. for we can get along just
as well without.
Joel health is very poor. I hardly
think he will live long. he looks
miserable. he has gone to Detroit to
get his discharge.
I see Mrs. Pettie Gordon every few days.
her sister Mrs. Libbie Hammond is
acquainted with a young man in
Detroit by the name of Gardner Clark.
I have seen his picture but he does
not look much like my Gardner Clark.
Gardie Darling. Mary loves you.
Love your Wify.
Love me always.
