My Own Mary.
We are on
the eve of another move.
whether it is an advance upon
the Enemy or a move to more
wood is more than I can tell.
I wrote you several days
ago. but have not heard from
you since. I thought sure I
would get one to night. Captain
has just told me he had orders
to have all extra luggage that
the men did not need for a
winters campaign turned into
the quartermasters hands by
9 A.M. to-morrow. The North-
ern Press have fairly brow-
beaten Burnside into making
another advance. Wet weather
is just as sure to come next
month as the South are to establish
their Confederacy. Our Army
have been repulsed at Vicksburg
through reinforcements Sent
from the Richmond defenders
and while doing this we have
[ ? ] idle until they are ready
to bring their forces back again
Brewer we expect soon. did you
see him while at home. I learn
some of his friends have presented
him a sword. Hoping to have
“Good News” to write in my next
I’ll bid you good night and will
call around in nineteen months
I send you five dollars in this
which makes twenty I have sent
please write me if you get it all
I have plenty left. My love always
a kiss. Gardner B. Clark
