My Own Darling Wife
My Mary
Although it
probable I shall be with you very near as soon
as this I have nothing else to do so will pen
a few lines to while away time. My accounts
are settled and correct and if my muster-out
Rolls can be found here I shall get my pay
early in the morning if not when I get to Detroit
I have to report to Lieut. Col. Hill at Detroit
and then open an office at G. R.
I have not got full authority to
raise and organize a Company if the Govonor
wishes it though it can be done. If it is not
done I shall resign, as I did not accept until
I was told such authority would be given. Word,
and written orders are two different things.
Please do not let any one know of it as
it may be fixed by the time I get home. such
is the promise. If you was here I would
stay to the Inauguration but you are not so let
it slide. I received another letter from
you Friday. You are a dear good girl.
A kisses and much love
Your boy
