My Own Darling Wife.
Sabbath eve. and
around me throng thoughts of the
past and its loved ones and
visions of the future. where, away from
the din and turmoil of war. I may
enjoy the society of those who alone
make life valuable. although the
days move swiftly by time
seems to have come to a stand still
else my bondage would be over.
Since we returned to camp
the Rebs have made two attempts
to cross but failed. Appearances in=
dicate this as our quarters for the
coming winter
Dec. 8
th Since writing the first
page I have been busy fixing
a little for cold weather. and last
eve received yours the 3d inst. you
have likely received the money by
this as I sent it by Express.
I would like
very well to have a sleigh ride
among the old familiar and loved
haunts of my boyish folly
though I do not expect it this
New years. The weather here
is mild and pleasant but night
are cold.
