Regiment: 1st U.S. Volunteers Sharpshooters Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Berlin Vermont. December 12th 1863. Dear Gardner. My Darling Husband. I have heard nothing from you since the last battle but thing there must be letters for me at Moretown before now. I am going out there in a few days and Mother and Celia are going back to Roxbury. It snowed last night and there is about an inch on the ground now but if I was in Michigan I should say it would be all gone before night. I have had sisteen of your pictures taken which I will send you if you want more let me know and I will get them. Mother received two letters from Father a few days ago. he writes that he is troubled with the rheumatism and has been ordered to the hospital three times but had not gone yet Dec. 13th I commenced this yesterday and will now try to finish it although I do now know when I shall have a chance to send it to the office. The snow is all gone and I guess we are not going to have any sleighing this winter I would not care much if it would only be good wheeling but it does not look much like that for it has been raining all day. Uncle Jabey just told me he was going to the village so I will send this by him. I will start those pictures the first time I go to the village. With love and kisses. Your ever faithfull and loving wife. M. B. C.
