Respected Friend & Comrad
You need
not think because I did
not answer your letter
at an earlier date that
it was on account of a
want of friendship
and besides respect for
a long tried and brave
old Comrad would
make me answer
your request if nothing
more I wish you had
given me some form
to work by in drawing
you up a testimomat
But nevertheless I
will do the best I can
in the primises
But before it go
any further I will
give you the reason
wy I have not
replyed to you letter
before
I was absent at
the time you wrote
me in New York
I was married the
22 of last February
to a young lady
who was a resident
of the state of NY
I have but just
returned home
Therefore you will see
the reason why it did
not write sooner
I hear from the
old C. C. boys
occasionally
[ ? ]

Chattanooga Tennessee
The
[ ? ] boys are
all in Chicago at
some kind of business
but the subscriber don’t
know what that business
is
But I think it is
about time that
I should draw this
article to a close
