My Dear Wife
A few minutes after sending two
letters yesterday I recd a good letter from you
You must write even if you do not receive letters reg-
ularly and I will do the same.
We are having rather ample
[ ? ] weather but it has
stopped raining yesterday our Company did camp
duty and to day we are ordered out on picket for
three days if the weather is good we do not want any
[ ? ] if it rains why then we have to take
it we expected to have been relieved to day but
will have to stay a few days possibely weeks
The rebs have been making a dark the B+Ohio R.R.
but are a long distance from here We have not
much of a force of rebels in our front that we
know of
[ ? ] going were the terror of this sections
but are completely used up now.
We hear Gen Hooker has been successful and has
taken many prisoners. I hope it is all true and
more too it. Col. Sherlook is among the killed I do
not see as many other Mich men are killed but it is
a horrid affair to make the best of it.
Capt. Gray + Lieut Harris are back from Washington
but the nature of His business has not transpired

We rec’d two more pay when I wrote you + sent the
check for Jany + Feby Newcom wrote me he
had recd six mos pay I presume you can get
the check cashed at Flint
I must close as we have to leave soon my
table is not very good it is a hard tack box
I am glad to hear that you are in good spirits
and hope you will keep up good courage. I
do not get but little time to write I have
written to no one but newcom
