Regiment: 4th Michigan Cavalry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Camp Minty Sept 5, 1862 My dear Davidson Yesterday morning I safely arrived. I found almost all our company making preparations to stat home on a furlough. I do not believe there are more than twenty five in camp to-night. Our horses have been received and it keeps the few boys here busy to take care of 100 of them. Last night Buckly came in with Melchoir + my horses. Their backs were badly galled, but otherwise they were well. Melchoir was nearly fogged out, but wince appeared as fresh as when he started. Buckley thinks [ ? ] a great traveler.               To-day I went down town and or- dered a saddle and other horse traps. In that way will go about $50. I also went to Randall’s, and struck an attitude for some photographs. I hope they will prove a source of pleasure to my many dear friends. How do you get on with your collections? Stir up Bramblee. Webster and Herbolshimmer. No- thing ne here. I sent Pautlind’s saddle as far as Lawton by one of the boys to-day. I wish you would see that it is sent to him at Niles. Let we hear from you.  Yours affecly R. Burns Send my [ ? ] back by one of the boys [On Envelope:] J. Davidson Burns Esq Paw Paw Mich
