My dear Mother
On Friday next
we are to move to the seat of
war bag and baggage. Louis-
wille, Kentucky is to be our
destination. We shall proba-
bly be about thirty six hours
on the way and I will write
you immediately on my arri-
val there. We have been dril-
ling since our arrival in camp
and every afternoon are sur-
rounded by admiring crowds.
I expect Davidson every day.
He is to come down and see
us off. To-day I am to go to
the Waterman’s for the last time
as I presume I can not get out
of camp again before our de-
parture. I have been very
well since my arrival here.
Of course I have had little cold
and aches, but have recovered
completely. Enclosed you
will find a half dozen plots-
graples which you can distribute
as you think proper giving one
to Mary and Sarah. I hope
I may return safely in a little
while and talk over with you
all the present troubles. I wish
we could leave gone through
New York. Good bye. I
must go back to camp. Love
to all. Your affect son
Robert
