Regiment: 4th Michigan Cavalry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: H’d Quarters 1st Cav’y Brigade Murfreesboro April 28, 1863 My dear Davidson I wrote you a few lines the day after my arrival here, which I suppose you have received. By Capt Grant I have an opportunity to send an express package and I here with enclose ($430) four hundred and thirty dollars. I wish you would pay up both of the last contracts with Mr. Davenport and also as much as you can spare on the Herbalshimmer one. If you want to use any of the money keep it.    If not pay it on the contracts.    I also send a bundle of secesh letters which were taken on the last scout. I believe undoubted the genuineness of some I sent before. These you see must be legal being stamped. The Brigade returned Sunday having taken 130 prisoners and des- troyed a great deal of rebel property. I am to remain as A.A.A.G. The Col said I might do as I chose.     I am very much better than I was, having almost recovered. I hope to be able to ride very soon though I shall not go until perfectly well.               I had a pleasant visit in Niles.         Those pho- tographs did not come while I was there so I told Pautlind to send them to you. Nothing new here yet. Please acknowledge receipt of this immediately. Give my love to Mother. Affecly Yours R.B. [On Envelope:] J. Davidson Burns Esq Kalamazoo Michigan
