Regiment: 16th Michigan Infantry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: [Eagle on shield] E Pluribus Unum Camp on the potomac Monday Creek Near        March Fallmouth My dear parent virginia The 9th 1863 i have just recieved your kind letter and i was glad to hear from you once more and to hear that you and all the rest of the family were enjoying good health and i hope that these few lines will find you still enjoy ing the same blessing as they leave me at presant time i am sory to hear that grand father is so ill but i supose that if it his time to go he must for it is just as natural for a man to leave the world as it is for him to come into it i have not Strange news to give you this time only that i think that the army under hooker is going to stay in front of fredricksburg this sumer and i hope we will the 9th Army core and 6th army and the 11th army corps is under marching orders the 9th army corps has gone to news port news but their destination is north carlinia and i hear that the 11th army corps under general Seigal is bound for the penensular and the 6th army corps i dont know whare they are going to and if they leave us here to play Mcdowell this sumer we will have a good time of it and i hope they will the men are building forts here and it looks like as if we were a going to stay here the weather is very fine here and it begins to look like spring here i have been over to henery berdell and got the can of honey that you sent me in his box you spoke of comeing down here i wish you would for i would be very glad to see you in dixie land and so you could have a chance to see how we live down here it will do you good come down here major barry and captain elliott of this regiment with some others oficers of different regiments and about 30 noncomishiond oficers started from dtroit two weeks ago with 90 drafted men but when they came to washington they only had 30 the rest having deserted along the route i recieved a letter from uncle Charley and he says that they have taken ed caul from the 9th Michigan Cavellry when you write again i want to tell me all about it so now i will close by biding you good bye for this time remember me to all inquireing friends i shall send a little book in in this letter and you must give it to ellen Jane so no more at present From your Affectionate son Chancy Bunyea to Beloved father and Mother [On Envelope:] Mr John Bunyea Wayne PO Wayne Co Mich
