My Dear Parents
Virginia
i have recieved your kind and well
come letter dated 5
th inst and i was
glad to hear that you were all in
good health and i hope that those
few lines will find you still
enjoying the same blessing as they
leaves me at present we just came
in from picket yesterday and
we had a very good time of it
the weather was so pleasant and
warm and we are going on review
this fore noon at a eleven oclock
and i think that the dress
is very handsome but you did
not tell me what it cost per yard
i have just come in from the review
we was reviewed by a general from
Switzerland in eaurope he
going all throug our army to see if
he can learn any more of the Scince of
war this all the strange news that
i can give you this time you can tell
ammon lewis if he was as close to
the old flag as i have been and went
through the same plases that i have
and seen as much as i have then
he could boast of being close to it
you wanted to know whether it was
union or rebill you may believe
it is the the flag of the old
michigan 16
th regiment of voll
inteers both true and brave
tell mary Elizibeth that shall
write her for her self and direct
to her self when i write to
you again as i can not think
of any thing this time to
tell her so i will close
