Dear frend I receive your leater
last night I very glad to hear from
you and to har you was well I am well
toffar than ever than I ever was on labors
has ben very hard this month we have
march 400 miles this month I am in
Ketuckey again the last day of last
month we lef Steveson Alabama we have
march through Tenessee and Kentuckey
since we

built 7 stockades and one fort most
of it was don by negros we had 400
of them at one time we was

thare the last of last month and son
as we was attact made we had orders of
from Gen Bewel to leave the place so
we had to obeay orders after we had got
our fotication most dun the planters
was about to com in town and take thar
negros while others that lived a good
ways of com with us som of them

throught the mountains thay through

Stevenson every place was vachuated
