Dear Parents
I received your letter
and was glad to hear that you wer
usually well but sory that Pa could
not come and see us it wass a
long week to the children to wait
for there things after they hear about
[ ? ] we went to Auburn last
monday and got the box every thing
fitted to a charm and O I wish you
coul dhave heard the expresions of
joy and gratitud expressed in there
childish simplishily Johney syed we
had no granma we would not have
no mittens I can not tell you all
they sayed but I would od the rest injustis
not to say they wer all equally gratefull
John sayed that morning he did not
now what he should do for mittens
for he did not expect any for I told
him I did not think there would
be yarn enough for him Lewie says
he shall come and live with you
next winter and go to school for he
can read in the fourth reader by that
time he reads in the third now and
can read figures and multiply quite well
If he would get over crying and whineing
I was in hopes that I could tell you that
I was better but I can not I get most
discouraged my jant to Auburn last week
used me up for last week so that I did
not wash a rag and now I have two
weeks washing which will serve me
in the same way we butchered thursday
after newyears and I had every thing
done saturday night all cleaned up
and had company just as I was firing
my head chees It is my lot to have company
in butchering time I have tried to
find a girl but can not get any
If I could I would have one do you
suppose Kate McGowan would answer
my purpose if I could get her John
wanted me to write to her but I felt
most afraid I could not get along with
her write as soon as you can you do not
have as much to do as I do to each you
tired out all the time
