I am still alive well and harty as any of Uncle Sam boys been. I got a pat of hard tack and bacon I guess that this potato crops wasn’t very good if it was I have not seen the benefits of it yet but I live in hopes I have bled and fought and died form my country 16 times and expect to die as many more time before this war is over. Well I don’t know what to write that will interest you. Wel general starvation has been suppressed by hard tack and bacon. The soldier of this arm was well pleased with the change. Well John soldiering ain’t husking corn or drinking cider I find, but it is like driving cattle specialy if they are slow.
