Residing in St. Clair, Michigan, George W. Wilson enlisted as a Captain in the 5th Michigan Infantry Company G on June 19, 1861 at Fort Wayne, Michigan. He was mustered into service at the age of 28 on August 28. Wilson was listed as being wounded on May 31, 1862 at Fair Oaks, Virginia. He was promoted to Assistant Adjutant General on General Hiram Berry’s staff on June 5. George W. Wilson resigned from service on January 27, 1863.Documents for this Author:
