William G. Whitworth, of Plainfield, Michigan, enlisted as a Private in the 6th Michigan Cavalry Company A on August 9, 1862 at Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was mustered into service at the age of 22 on August 28. On May 6, 1864, Whitworth was listed as being a prisoner of war at Wilderness, Virginia. William G. Whitworth was held prisoner at Andersonville, Georgia, where he died on September 20. He is buried in the Andersonville National Cemetery at gravesite #9525.Documents for this Author:
