About the Author
George M. Wells, of Niles, Michigan, enlisted in the 11th Michigan Cavalry on August 1, 1863. He was mustered into Company K as a 35-year old Captain on November 8. Wells was transferred from 11th Michigan Cavalry to 8th Michigan Cavalry on July 20, 1865. George M. Wells was discharged from service on September 22 at Nashville, Tennessee.
