Weeks, William C.

About the Author

Residing in Allegan, Michigan, Private William C. Weeks enlisted in the 5th Michigan Cavalry Company I on July 22, 1862. He was mustered into service on August 30 at the age of 23 and was then promoted to 1st Sergeant. Weeks was taken prisoner on March 2, 1864 at Richmond, Virginia. He was released on August 18. His other promotion was to 1st Lieutenant on February 1, 1865. On April 1 at Five Forks, Virginia, Weeks was severely wounded in his left ankle causing it to be amputated. William C. Weeks was discharged on July 20. He died on December 25, 1893 and was buried at Allegan, Michigan.
