About the Author
At the age of 18, Private George A. Turner, of Macomb County, Michigan, enlisted in the 5th Michigan Infantry Company B on August 28, 1861 at Fort Wayne, Michigan. He was mustered into service that same day. On November 27, 1863, Turner was listed as being wounded at Locust Grove, Virginia. He re-enlisted on December 26 at Brandy Station, Virginia. Turner was wounded a second time at Hatcher’s Run, Virginia on October 27, 1864. George A. Turner was discharged on July 5, 1865 at Jeffersonville, Indiana.Documents for this Author:
