About the Author
Residing in Lansing, Michigan, Jerome B. TenEyck enlisted as a Sergeant in the 3rd Michigan Infantry on May 10, 1861 at Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was mustered into Company G on June 10 at the age of 23. TenEyck was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant of Company E on March 20, 1863 and later to 1st Lieutenant on November 1. On May 5, 1864, he was wounded in action at Wilderness, Virginia. He was transferred to the 5th Michigan Infantry Company E and commissioned a Captain on June 10. In September, TenEyck was Acting Assistant Adjutant General, Second Brigade, Third Division, of the Second Army Corps. He was discharged at the expiration of his term of service on October 10. Jerome B. TenEyck was promoted to Major by Brevet on March 13, 1865 for gallant and meritorious service during the war.Documents for this Author:
