About the Author
William R. Sterling enlisted in the 1st Michigan Cavalry Company L at the age of 25 on August 20, 1861 at Grand Rapids, Michigan. Sterling was promoted to Hospital Steward on October 6, 1862. He re-enlisted as a veteran on December 21, 1863. William R. Sterling died on November 6, 1864 at Cedar Creek, Virginia.Documents for this Author:
