About the Author
Residing in Evansville, Wisconsin, Private Waldo A. Stearns enlisted in the 2nd Wisconsin Infantry Company H on April 24, 1861. He was mustered into service that same day and was later promoted to Corporal and then to Sergeant. Stearns was wounded on September 17, 1862 at Antietam, Maryland. Waldo A.
