About the Author
William Simmons was residing in Quincy, Michigan when he enlisted in the 16th Michigan Infantry on August 17, 1861 at Quincy. He mustered into Company E as an 18-year old Private on August 24. Simmons was listed as wounded on August 30, 1862 at the Battle of 2nd Bull Run in Virginia. William Simmons died from his wounds on September 14 at Alexandria, Virginia.Documents for this Author:
