About the Author
George H. Prentiss enlisted as a Private in the 7th Michigan Cavalry Company H on March 28, 1864 at Lawton, Michigan. He was mustered into service at the age of 23 on April 14. Prentiss was taken prisoner on June 12 at Trevillian Station, Virginia. On November 1, he was promoted to Sergeant. He was listed as being returned on December 10. George H.
