About the Author
While residing in Jackson County, Michigan, Charles E. Miller enlisted in the 8th Michigan Infantry Company K on August 30, 1861. He was mustered into service as a 22 year old Private on September 23. On June 16, 1862, Miller was taken prisoner at James Island, South Carolina. He was listed as being on duty with the 20th Michigan Infantry from January 7, 1864. Miller was promoted to Corporal on May 1 and was wounded on July 15 at Petersburg, Virginia. Charles E. Miller was discharged from service on September 22, 1864 near Petersburg, Virginia.Documents for this Author:
