About the Author
John McCarthy, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, enlisted in the 14th Michigan Infantry on November 1, 1861 at Ann Arbor. He was mustered into Company H as a 19-year old Private on January 7, 1862 and was promoted to Corporal. McCarthy re-enlisted in the service on February 4, 1864 at Columbia, Tennessee. On August 7, he was wounded at Atlanta, Georgia. John McCarthy died on September 1 at Chattanooga, Tennessee.Documents for this Author:
