Residing in Grand Rapids, Michigan, 2nd Lieutenant Charles D. Lyon enlisted in the 3rd Michigan Infantry Company A on May 13, 1861. He was mustered into service on June 10 at the age of 24. He was promoted to 1st Lieutenant on August 1 and then to Captain of Company K on October 28. Charles D. Lyon resigned from service on October 25, 1862.Documents for this Author:
