About the Author
At the age of 25, George W. Lewis, of Lenawee County, Michigan, enlisted as a Private in the 4th Michigan Infantry Company F on June 20, 1861 at Adrian, Michigan. He was mustered into service that same day. Lewis was listed as being wounded at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on July 2, 1863. On February 15, 1864, he was transferred to the Veteran Reserve Corps at Washington, D. C. George W. Lewis’ method and date of discharge is unknown.Documents for this Author:
