About the Author
Alonzo M. Keeler enlisted as a Captain in the 22nd Michigan Infantry Company B on August 14, 1862. He was mustered into service that same day at the age of 35. Keeler was taken prisoner several times, including Chickamauga, Georgia on September 20, 1863 and at an undisclosed location on February 28, 1865. He was paroled both times. On October 14, 1864, he was promoted to Major and then promoted to Lieutenant Colonel by Brevet on March 13, 1865. Alonzo M. Keeler was discharged from service on June 26 at Nashville, Tennessee. He lived in Richmond, Michigan after the war.Documents for this Author:
