About the Author
Charles A. Jewell, Jr., of Tecumseh, Michigan, enlisted in the 18th Michigan Infantry on August 15, 1862 at Medina, Michigan. He was mustered into Company I as a 22-year old Sergeant on August 26. Jewell received several promotions including: 1st Sergeant; 2nd Lieutenant, December 31, 1863; and, 1st Lieutenant of Company A, March 27, 1865. Charles A. Jewell, Jr. was discharged from service on June 26, 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee.Documents for this Author:
