About the Author
William P. Innes was born on January 22, 1826 in New York City, New York. He was residing in Grand Rapids, Michigan when he enlisted as a Colonel in the 1st Michigan Engineers Field and Staff on September 12, 1861. He was mustered into service at the age of 32 on December 6. Innes was promoted to Brigadier General by Brevet on March 13, 1865. William P. Innes was discharged from service on October 26, 1864. He died on August 2, 1893 in Grand Rapids, Michigan and he is buried there.Documents for this Author:
