About the Author
Thomas M. Howrigan, of Detroit, Michigan, enlisted as a Captain in the 1st Michigan Cavalry Company H on August 8, 1861. He was mustered into service at the age of 38 on August 22. On August 30, 1862, Howrigan was taken prisoner at the Battle of Second Bull Run in Virginia. He was later exchanged. He was promoted to Major and transferred to Field and Staff on March 1, 1863. Howrigan was discharged from service on June 30. He re-enlisted and was mustered into service on August 15. Thomas H. Howrigan was discharged from service on June 19, 1865 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.Documents for this Author:
