About the Author

Eli Hitchcock, of Milville, Wisconsin, enlisted as a Private in the 7^th Wisconsin Infantry Company H on August 29, 1861. He was mustered into service that same day. Eli Hitchcock died of disease on May 16, 1862 at Potomac Creek, Virginia.
