About the Author
Norman J. Hall enlisted as a Colonel in the 7th Michigan Infantry Field and Staff on July 7, 1862. He was mustered into service that same day. Hall was promoted to Captain by Brevet for his gallant and meritorious service at Antietam, Maryland on September 17, 1862. He was then promoted to Major by Brevet for his service at Fredericksburg, Virginia on December 13. On July 3, 1863, he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel by Brevet for his service at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Hall was mustered into the 5th U.S. Artillery as a Captain on August 1. Norman J. Hall resigned from service on June 4, 1864 and retired on February 22, 1865. He died on May 26, 1867.Documents for this Author:
