About the Author
Samuel Edson Graves, of Adrian, Michigan, was commissioned into the 12th Michigan Infantry on October 10, 1861. He was mustered into Company F as a 23-year old Private on December 19. Graves was promoted to Captain on September 13, 1862. On November 1, Graves was transferred from Company F to Company G. He became Adjutant General of the 1st Brigade, 2nd Division on July 15, 1863. He resigned for disability on December 20, 1864. Graves re-entered service as a Major in the 13th Michigan Infantry on January 9, 1865. Samuel E. Graves was discharged from service on June 30 at Detroit, Michigan.Documents for this Author:
