About the Author
B. Franklin Gooding, of York, Michigan, enlisted as a Private in the 4th Michigan Cavalry Company A on August 5, 1862 at Detroit, Michigan. He was mustered into service on August 28 at the age of 23. He received several promotions including: Corporal, May 1, 1863; Sergeant, January 1, 1864; and, Quartermaster Sergeant, December 20. On July 20, Gooding was wounded at Kennesaw Mountain, Georgia. B. Franklin Gooding was discharged on July 1, 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee. He resided in Ann Arbor, Michigan after the war.Documents for this Author:
