Elbridge Franklin, of Gratiot County, Michigan, enlisted as a Private in the 5th Michigan Infantry Company C on August 14, 1861 at Fort Wayne, Michigan. He was mustered into service on August 28 at the age of 21. Franklin was listed as being wounded on May 31, 1862 at Fair Oaks, Virginia. He was discharged for disability on October 28 at Detroit, Michigan. On September 6, 1864, Franklin re-enlisted and was mustered into the 8th Michigan Infantry on September 7. He was listed as joining his regiment on October 6 at Polar Springs, Virginia. Elbridge Franklin was discharged on June 1, 1865 and he lived in Ithaca, Michigan after the war.Documents for this Author:
