John M. Forquer was residing in Hillsdale County, Michigan when he enlisted in the 2nd Michigan Cavalry Company G on September 14, 1861 at Reading, Michigan. He was mustered into service as a 22-year-old Private on October 2. Forquer was listed as wounded on May 15, 1862 at Hamburg, Tennessee. On September 3, he was discharged for disability at Detroit, Michigan. He re-enlisted in the service on September 22, 1863 at Kalamazoo, Michigan as a Trumpeter in Company A of the 11th Michigan Cavalry. He was later transferred to Company G of the 8th Michigan Cavalry on July 20, 1865. John M. Forquer was discharged from service on September 22 at Nashville, Tennessee.Documents for this Author:
