About the Author
Sergeant George Drake, of Farmington, Michigan, enlisted in the 5th Michigan Cavalry Company H on August 23, 1862 at Detroit, Michigan. He was mustered into service on August 30. Drake received several promotions, including: 2nd Lieutenant, January 11, 1863; Captain, October 24; and, Major by Brevet, May 17, 1865. George Drake was discharged on June 19 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.Documents for this Author:
