James Dewitt Dickinson, of Johnstown, Michigan, enlisted as a Sergeant in the 17th Michigan Infantry Company D on July 9, 1862 at Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was mustered into service at the age of 22 on August 11. Dickinson was listed as a prisoner of war on May 12, 1864 at Spotsylvania Court House, Virginia. James Dewitt Dickinson was discharged from service on May 23, 1865 at Detroit, Michigan. He lived in Nashville, Michigan after the war.Documents for this Author:
