About the Author
Born on February 16, 1807 in Worcester County, Massachusetts, Lysander Cutler was residing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin when he enlisted in the 6th Wisconsin Infantry on May 28, 1861. He was mustered in as a Colonel of Field and Staff that same day at the age of 54. On November 29, 1862, Cutler was discharged for promotion to Brigadier General of the U.S. Volunteers General Staff. He was later promoted to Major General by Brevet on August 19, 1864. Lysander Cutler resigned from service on June 30, 1865. He died on June 30, 1866 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.Documents for this Author:
