Henry G. Cooley, of Ionia County, Michigan, enlisted as a 25 year old Corporal in the 9th Michigan Infantry Company D on September 5, 1861 in Lyons, Michigan. He was mustered into service on October 15 and re-enlisted on December 25, 1863 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Cooley was promoted to Sergeant on March 5, 1864. Henry G.
