About the Author
On February 29, 1864, Private John Clay enlisted in the 3rd Michigan Cavalry Company B at the age of 35 in Jackson, Michigan. He was mustered into service on March 11 and was listed as joining his regiment on April 10 at St. Louis, Missouri. John Clay was discharged on October 16, 1865 in the Benton Barracks, at St. Louis, Missouri. He died on July 21, 1896.Documents for this Author:
