Buxton, Albert

About the Author

Albert Buxton, of Londonderry, Vermont, enlisted as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 2nd U.S. Volunteers Sharpshooters Company H on December 24, 1861. He was mustered into service on December 31. Buxton was promoted to Captain on December 1, 1862. On July 3, 1863, he was wounded in action at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. At Wilderness, Virginia on May 5, 1864, Buxton was severely wounded in his leg, which led to its amputation. Albert Buxton died of his wounds on May 7 at Wilderness, Virginia.
